Are you sick and tired of battling with stinky nappies?

Then Rockin' Green should be on your cloth nappy playlist! It comes in 3 rockin' formulas and tons of sweet fragrances, which is music to anyones ears.

Classic Rock: This is the sound that started it all. Our original formula is great for cloth nappies and regular clothes. So use it on everything! This formula is designed for those with middle of the road water, not too soft and not too hard. When in doubt start with classic rock!

Below are some FAQs from the Rockin' Green website, which should help get you choosing and using your Rockin' Green detergent!

Is it safe for my nappies?
Absolutely! You don't have to worry about repelling or buildup with Rockin' Green. And you only use a small amount with each load of clothes, so it rinses clean. In most cases you don't even need to do an extra rinse! You can find us on the Diaper Jungle cloth diaper detergent chart as well- we got 4 stars!

Will it void my nappy warranty?
Many manufacturers have specific instructions on how and what to use when washing your cloth nappies. For example:

You should only use detergents that are free of dyes, enzymes, perfumes, essential oils, whiteners and brighteners.

Rockin' Green is free of dyes, enzymes, whiteners and brighteners. So you can rest assured that it is safe for all nappies. The scented version does contain natural fragrances, so for those worried about warranty issues order either the soft rock version, or the classic or hard rock formula, unscented.

Can I use it on other laundry?
Yes! We use it on all our laundry here, and many of my customers find it easier to use one detergent for all their laundry.

My nappies stink! Will Rockin' Green help?
Yeap! You can do a mini-strip when you first start using Rockin' Green to get the jump on the funk.

1. Fill your washer with hot water and 3 Tbsp of Rockin' Green, along with your nappies.

2. Let it soak for approximately 30-60 minutes. Then launder several times skipping the soap. If you have a front loader machine, you may have to consult your manual but you can usually do a soak by pressing the start or pause button.

*Tip: Repeat this process anytime you need a good deep-cleaning. If your nappies have excessive buildup or residue, it may take a few soaks to get them in good condition.

You can also do a soak anytime that you feel your nappies need a good deep cleaning.

Keep using Rockin' Green to keep the stinkies at bay.

Do I need to do anything special if I am switching from another detergent?

If you are switching from a clean rinsing detergent, you may have little to no trouble switching to Rockin' Green. If you are using something like Tide however, you may experience some problems as the built up soap is drawn to the surface of your nappies. Even nappies that appeared to be clean before switching, may suddenly become stinky the first few washes with Rockin' Green. This is totally normal, and will improve with continued use. Some people may even experience rashes and repelling as the old detergent is being flushed out. To speed up the process, try Rockin' an overnight soak with 3 Tbs of Rockin' Green followed by several washes with nothing. Repeat the process until your nappies are fresh smelling again.

Will Rockin' Green work on my Hard Water? Soft Water?
Yes. Rockin' Green was designed with hard water problems in mind, so even if you have had trouble finding things that work in the past, Rockin' Green will surprise you. If you have soft water, you can use even less Rockin' Green to get the same effect. Begin with 1 tbs, and adjust the amount as needed.

My baby has a rash! Help!

Rashes can be caused by a lot of things, changes in diet, teething, suede-cloth allergies etc...so when in doubt send us an email and we will help you troubleshoot. Seriously, they call us the laundry gurus for a reason! Here's the most common causes of detergent related rashes and possible solutions:

-Did you recently switch to Rockin' Green? If you just made the jump, it's most likely old detergent coming to the surface and causing issues. Even if your first soak was clear, it's possible that minerals, enzymes and other gunk are now living on the surface of your nappies. So try Rockin' another soak and following up with several washes with nothing.

-nappies look and smell great, but you are experiencing irritation? Get naked! Bare Naked that is....while we have taken great care to pick the gentlest scents on the market, we know that sometimes babies don't like to follow the rules. So skip the scent and try unscented.

-nappies stinky? Coupled with sore bottoms? Check your wash routine. Make sure that you are doing enough rinsing at both the beginning and end of your routine. Sometimes adding on an extra rinse at the end is all you need to fix an angry bottom.

-nappies stink and extra rinsing doesn't help? Make sure that you are using the right formula for your water type. When in doubt send us an email or give us a call and we would be happy to help you figure out your water type. We can not only identify your particular water issues, but help you figure out the right dosage too.

-When in doubt, send us an email. We have gone out of our way to create a product that is both safe for the environment and babies, and have recently reformulated our products to use a milder surfactant and gentler scents. So if something isn't working for you, we want to know about so we can create something that will!

I just started using Rockin' Green and they smell worse! What's up?
Sometimes, it takes a few washes to experience the full benefit of Rockin' Green. With each wash, Rockin' Green will work to pull out the trapped in detergent, grime and minerals that are inside your nappies and inserts, which can temporarily cause stink issues or even repelling for some people. If you experience this problem, we would suggest you Rock a Soak overnight and then do several washes with no soap added to flush out all the gunk. Repeat the process until your nappies are clean smelling, and then continue to use Rockin' Green at the recommended dosage for day to day washings.

Will the scented oils cause problems with my nappies?
There is approximately 10 drops of natural fragrance oil per 45 load batch so the amount of oil in each load is negligible. The oils used in Rockin' Green are 100% natural, so the risk of irritation is much less than other scented products on the market.

Is Rockin' Green phosphate free?
Yes, Rockin' Green is 100% phosphate free. And dioxin free....petroleum free...and fat free!

Is Rockin' Green SLS Free?
Yes! It's also animal by-product free, never tested on animals…biodegradable….and a bunch of other Mother Earth Rockin' goodness!

Formula

Rockin' Green comes in several different formulas- so there is something for everyone!

  • Classic - this is the original formula, and is great for those with moderate hard water, or just those that are battling with stinkies. Comes in unscented and scented varieties.
  • Hard - This formula is designed for the most troubling of water types.

All Rockin' Green formulas are designed with the same great ingredients, and work for all water types. Most people do great with the Classic formula, so when in doubt start off with that formula.

Washing Instructions

First Time User: the mission is to de-funk your nappies! To get rid of built up minerals and left over detergent do the following:

  1. Fill your washer with hot water and 3 Tbsp* of Rockin' Green, along with your nappies.
  2. Let it soak for approximately 30-60 minutes. Then launder as usual, skipping the soap.

Tip: Repeat this process anytime you need a good deep-cleaning. If your nappies have excessive buildup or residue, it may take a few soaks to get them in good condition. For those with really hard water, you may find a quick soak before every wash helpful.

Note: Excessive soaking of Pul or TPU products is not recommended. Soaking of microfiber or natural fibers is fine.

Check out this video on how to Rock a Soak

Washing Instructions: washing nappies and clothing should not be a complicated ordeal. Forget everything that you have heard, and keep it simple. You don't need extra boosters or add-ons with Rockin' Green.

  1. Savor the smell of your Rockin' Green detergent…ahh…yummy….
  2. Dump your nappies/clothes into the washer and do a cold rinse/wash to get the nasties out prior to the wash cycle. The more water, the better!
  3. Add the detergent and do a hot wash. Use 2-3 Tbsp* per load. For front loader machines or those with soft water use 1-2 Tbsp*.
  4. Double Rinse.
  5. Enjoy your clean fluff!

Really like this. Leave nappies really clean and smells lovely. Much nicer than the Mint/Lavender one.

Glad I knew the smell won't last after wash, thank you clean green for the advice, or I could understand disappointment.
For washing it's pretty good on breastfed little ones cloths, find some variance with certain nappies though.
I find a prewash (no powder), 30/40degree wash with teaspoon of powder, than extra rinse does the job many others don't. Plus it hasn't affected the absorbency of the boosters, in fact I may have noticed difference since stopped using other detergents.
Love the fact there are no nasties against little one's skin.
May be back for more!!

This is the second Hard Rock that I have purchased, this one although did the job of washing the nappies, when the packet was opened it was not like the first one which was a very fine powder. This was thick lumpy and clotted together whether some moisture had got into it at some point of process who knows. Although they are supposed to have a smell this one didnt. Have been dissapointed with this product on second use as it is not a cheap product.
CleanGreenNappy says: the packaging on the product has changed so that on newer packs the powder is vacuum packed more effectively, making it feel like it's clumped together. Once opened, and in contact with some air, it should loosen, but if it doesn't, please re-seal and give it a vigorous shake, and that should do the trick.

Haven't fully explored the capabilities of this detergent. I'm struggling a bit to know how best to use it, as it seems to need to be soaked with the nappies in the machine, and my machine doesn't seem to let you do that.

Other than that, I used it in my machine using it in the prewash drawer, so there was plenty of rinsing, and the nappies seem to come out clean. Hvent used it often enough to comment further.

I am very disappointed with this product. My nappies are no longer white and they don't smell any different to being wsashed in another powder. The scents are a gimmick. The powder is very fine and seems to lodge itself in the washer drawer. I will be switching back to Bold 2in1 which always left them fresh and super white. A very expensive gimmick.
CleanGreenNappy says: Thanks for your review. I am sorry you've not been happy with the product, but it really isn't a gimmick. The scents wash out - and are designed to do this. Most detergents leave a residue and this detergent is specially formulated not to do that - nothing is left behind, not even the scent. This means the fabric lasts longer and is very important for cloth nappies as a build up of residue, as caused by other detergents, will affect their absorbancy. Many of the standard detergents on the market contain enzymes, perfumes, and other ingredients which will significantly reduce the life span of your nappies, so using something like this detergent will ensure they are kept in great condition!

I have used my first bag of this detergent and i find it washes beautiful and would deffinatly recomend it, it is expensive but it does work out cheaper than other real nappy detergents if you can get the 90 washes out of the bag, it works out to aprox 18p per wash. I have found that i have to put the nappies on an extra long cycle to rinse all the suds out but other than that no complaints, I used the ammonia bouncer once with an overnight soak and the washing powder seems to be doing great at keeping the stiknies away. The only thing that dissapointed me was the smell, how it reads on the packet you expect to get a burst of the stated smell(watermellons) when opening the bag but unfortunatly its not the case.I have ordered a different smell to try to see if it is just the 1 that has no smell. but if your not really bothered about how much it smells then a great purchase for keeping your nappies clean and stink free.

Unfortunately was disappointed by this product. It works great with wee nappies - cleans nicely with no whiffs, but PANTS (excuse the pun...) with poo nappies. My nappies now actually have poo stains even though i wash exactly as the instructions recommend. I wash straight away in cold wash then wash again in 3 tablespoons of wash, which is roughly a Vanish scoop of powder, then give them an extra rinse. With wee nappies this is fine, but poo ones i have to wash again and again and again... Have done a 'soak' as recommended on the pack but still stains, have even made up a paste with some of the powder and given them a soak with that but still stains. I have to say i will not be buying this product again, i am so disappointed. So really - 4 stars for wee naps but 1 star for poo as they do get rid of whiffs and residue poo leakage. Al Gore strike me down for saying this but will be going back to Ariel sensitive once it's used up.

This washed the nappies well and they came out clean but in all honesty despite being Quite excited by this product at first after using the full 90 wash bag I'm not so convinced that it does any better job than non bio and as it doesn't have a smell to it once they are washed at least with non bio the nappies have a fresh smell. I think it is meant to not build up like normal washing powder but can't say I noticed a massive difference in this respect. It also works out more expensive than non bio if you get yours when it's on special offer. Sorry, I really wanted to love this but not convinced.

It cleans but isn't anything that special. You need to wash nappies at 60C rather than 40C. Otherwise you still have stains. Price per wash it works out fractionally cheaper than Persil/Arial. However you need to factor in the P&P so it probably works out more expensive if you are just buying the powder.

The fragrance is a pointless gimmick. OK it smells slightly less aggresive than a normal powder when you open the bag. But the smell is washed away (it's supposed to according to the pack).
The product is shipped from the US. Therefore I'm not convinced it's that green?
